Medium Rare Smoke Clouds of GORE!

by Chris

I've been really busy lately.  Too busy to update my blog.  Well, when I say busy I mean preoccupied.  Preoccupied by what you ask?  What do you think?  I've been enjoying all my free time with my wonderful girlfriend, Amanda.  But she's at work until 9:30 tonight so I've been getting some stuff done around here, including an attempt at updating this blog.

So lets start with what's new since my last update.  Amanda is moving into the same apartment complex I am in.  She had already thought about moving here twice before but wasn't too sure about it.  But after seeing my apartment she decided she wanted to move here.  Which is awesome in my book.  But to make that even more awesome is that, because of chance, she had the option to move into the apartment across the hall from me.  Of course she chose that option!  Soon I'll be dating the girl next door, literally.

Great picture of Zoë.

Zoë goes into the vet tomorrow to get spayed.  She obviously has no clue about it.  I hope it doesn't change her personality too much.  If anything, I hope it calms her down around strangers.  In case you haven't had the pleasure of meeting her, she is a eruptive ball of energy whenever she meets someone new.  She's never met a stranger she doesn't already love is the best way to describe it.  Amanda and I have also been quite successful in house training her.  My way was apparently not working, but luckily Amanda came into my life and had the necessary knowledge to help out.  We've discovered that crate training is the best option with Zoë.  So far it has worked wonderously.

Amanda at her parent's house.

I had the pleasure of meeting some very important people on Memorial Day.  First I got to meet Amanda's best friend Johnny.  He was pretty cool and I can see why he is her best friend.  I only met him for a brief time at the Waffle House but from that brief time, I enjoyed his company.  After that I got introduced to Amanda's family.  I had already met her Mom and Sister earlier in the week, but this was my first time meeting her Dad.  They were all quite nice and cooked the most delicious dinner for us.  I had my first medium rare steak.  Before now, I have only ever ate medium well steak.  But after biting into that juicy medium rare steak, I've got to say no more medium well for me, ever!

Amanda with the doggies.

After we ate we took the dogs out to a park that is located on the Silver Comet Trail.  There was a nice little creek that the dogs got to play in.  Zoë didn't like playing in the water all that much, which was somewhat surprising.  Link was having a good 'ol time though.  The two dogs are getting along very nicely.  This is a good thing because this time next week they will be neighbors.  I still can't believe I'm going to be living next door to my girlfriend!

About a week after Amanda moves into her apartment she is throwing a party.  I would like all my friends to come up as well.  It can be a moving/meet and greet party.  I think will be an awesome party.  Hopefully some of my friends will be able to make it.  As soon as I know more about it I will let you guys know.

Well, I'm about to install Ubuntu onto my media PC because I never got around to activating Windows and now I'm locked out of it.  I've never used Linux before, but all I will ever use the PC for is watching movies or TV shows.  So hopefully it will work just fine for my needs.  So until next time, watch out for them zombies!

He's Never Needed Lip Balm.

by Chris

Ah, Life. It's good is it not?  It certainly has been for me.  I don't really know what to write about anymore.  I mean I don't want to keep boring people by constantly writing about what Amanda and I do.  She has consumed my life.  In a good way of course.  I once refused to believe that everything happens for a reason in life.  Now I am a firm believer in that saying.

Happiness in it's finest form.

I would like to share an audio clip I recorded at work last week.  It's from one of those "most interesting man in the world" commercials.  I recorded this one because it is by far the best one I've heard yet.

Warning, the sound may be a little loud

Amanda and I did introduce our dogs to each other this weekend.  It went surprisingly well.  They got along just fine.  We took them to Kennesaw Mountain.  We walked them on one of the dog trails.  It seems like the park is packed but we have yet to encounter anyone else on the trail we walk on.  We've been twice now.  While on the trail the dogs got along very nicely.  Here is a video clip:

However, once we took them back to my apartment, things turned around a little bit.  Zoë was her little playful self and Link was being grumpy.  I think he was just annoyed by how hyper Zoë is.  We eventually had to put a muzzle on Link.  Here is a video of Zoë being very vocal:

I should also mention that I had my first shot of alcohol last night.  It was some of Amanda's Patrone.  I actually had 2 shots.  I can't say that I liked it, but I did it.  I did, however, really like the mixed drink she made us.  It was some pineapple rum mixed with pineapple and orange juice.  Man was that good!  I also found out, much to my surprise, that I get WAY more talkative when I drink.  Last night was just incredible in so many ways.  I can't believe I've found my dream girl, and she likes me back just as much in return!

Yummmmy!

Another big discovery last night was of the picture below:

Picture of Amanda's cats.

Do the cats look familiar at all?  It's practically my cats Sam and Chester!  But this picture is of Simon and Garfunkel, Amanda's cats.  Her orange cat is dead as well as mine.  Here is a picture of Sam and Chester:

 Picture of my cats.

We keep finding freakier and freakier things we have in common.  Not just movies and zombies.  Those are pretty easy to replicate in someone.  But finishing each others sentences with sayings we thought were only known to the each of us is pretty wild too.  Example:  When we were walking the dog trail at Kennesaw Mountain and we came to a split in the trail she said, "Right is always right." Then she referred to where that saying came from, Wolfenstein 3d.  Me and my brother came up with the same exact saying from the same exact video game!  Coincidence or fate?

Twilight Zone

by Chris

My life has been amazing since the last time I updated this blog. More amazing than I ever thought it could possibly ever be. Considering I'm running on fumes right now, due to me wanting to spend every possible second I can with Amanda, this post might not make much sense.

Me, my Mom holding Zoë, and Guy at Oregon Park after 2 rounds of 18 holes.

Let's start off with the first date I went on with Amanda. We were talking online and decided we wanted to go see the new Nightmare on Elm Street. When I got there I was greeted with a somewhat hesitant hug. And she loaned me a Nightmare on Elm Street graphic novel. Which is incredibly awesome. I got out tickets and we went in and sat down. We started talking about movies we liked and it just so happened we liked all the same exact movies. Even the more obscure ones like Teeth and Machine Girl. We found out we had a lot more in common than just movies too. I mean we even have the exact same bed spread for crying out loud! We watched the movie, it sucked, but was made into an awesome night by the company we had in each other. After that we went out and grabbed some Waffle House. It was freezing inside there, but that's not really important. More great conversation came with that. Mostly talking about past events that's happened to us. Well mostly her, she's had a much more interesting life than me. After we ate, we went back to the theater parking lot and sat and talked some more in her car. Falling deeper and deeper into the twilight zone. The night ended with a nice hug, this time not so awkward.

Awesome picture of me driving.

The next day I went out with my Mom and Guy (her boyfriend) to play some disc golf. Guy is the person that introduced disc golf to me and he played it professionally a few years back. He's really good at it! They came up to my place and we went to Oregon Park nearby. When we got there it was really busy. The first 18 holes seemed to be rushed since there was always someone right behind us waiting to play. But we decided to stay and play the course a second time. I'm glad we did because it wasn't nearly as crowded and made the experience so much better. I improved my game also. I need to try to get more practice in but that starts to cut in on my time with Amanda and I don't want that! Later that night, Amanda and I chatted on webcam into the wee hours of the morning. Spending time with her in any way is great. Although, I prefer in person.

Standing in front of my Watchmen poster that Amanda gave me.

The next day she got a flat tire and had to get a new one put on. So after I got off work I headed over to meet her at the tire place. We then went to Wal-Mart to get her some poster frames for some posters she needed to hang up. All of which were Twilight, of course. I tease her about liking Twilight, but it's all in good fun. She did give me a Watchmen poster which I have hanging up now. After that we went to the mall and I got to meet some of her co-workers. I apparently got their "approval" so that was a good thing. We then ended up at a bookstore in the mall. And we hit the jackpot with zombie books. We both ended up getting one and we still have a long list of books we've gotta get! I also talked her into getting a Sookie Stackhouse (True Blood) book. But she also talked me into reading Twilight. In the end I hope she comes around and likes the Sookie Stackhouse stories better. After getting out of the mall we headed to the Olive Garden. She suggested I try a particular wine from there and considering that we have 99% the same taste in everything, I tried it and LOVED it. I can't remember the name of it, but she can leave a comment here if she wants. Oh, but the night isn't over yet! We went back to the tire place and we ended up laying in the grass looking up at the nonexistent stars in the sky talking about anything and everything. The night concluded with an extraordinary hug. Of course, all her hugs are extraordinary though.

I'm such a geek that I took a picture of myself pretending to read The Zombie Combat Manual.

The next day I met her at her apartment complex and met her dog, Link for the first time. He was nice to me even though I was forewarned he might try to bite. So that made me happy. We took Link on a walk on a trail at Kennesaw Mountain. I just love being with Amanda. And being out in the woods alone with her made it that much more special. After our walk, we took Link back home and I got to see her apartment for the first time. Her room is awesome, naturally. After grabbing a drink there, we headed to my place so she could mee Zoë. Of course Zoë loved her the second she saw her. We ended up watching Hatchet at my place. That movie rocks! Kane Hodder was a maniac in that movie. It was even better watching it with Amanda. I swear she is the greatest girl on this planet and I can't believe how unbelievably lucky I am to have found her. After the movie we cuddled for the first time and just talked some more. Being with her just feels so natural. I've never felt this way with someone before.

Amanda's zombie books/comics.

Now we are up to yesterday. Which was one of her roommate's birthday. So she wanted me to come meet her roommates. I only met them very briefly but they seemed pretty cool. We ended up in her bed watching Night of the Living Dead in 3d. It was pretty crappy but awesome with her. All the late nights started to catch up to me and I ended up passing out cuddled with her. So I just set my iPod alarm to go off at 5am so I could go back home and grab Zoë and head to work. I was only 2 minutes behind my normal schedule so that worked out quite well. Cuddling with Amanda is amazing. Actually, anything with Amanda is amazing! Amazing isn't even a good enough word to describe it honestly. I'm not a poet so I can't effectively express how I feel with words. But we know how we feel about each other because it'd definitely a mutual feeling.

Link, Amanda's dog, and our legs.  It's all I could manage to get a picture of.

My Internet has been down for the past 30 minutes or so since I've been typing this. So I guess I'll have to wait until it comes back online to add pictures and links and to finally post it live.

Video of Link doing some tricks.

I think I'll go take a nap.

Family Force Zombie

by Chris

An interesting turn of events have occurred.  I decided to change my profile yet again on plentyoffish and good thing I did because I met a totally awesome chick there.  She is actually everything I've been looking for.  She's into horror, zombie mostly, just like me.  She's a gamer, even if it is mostly old school, that's badass.  Conversation with her comes naturally as well.  Which has proven to be my biggest problem with dating.  I believe that goes hand in hand with us having so much in common.

 How awesome is this?!

She also introduced me to a pretty awesome band that wasn't on my radar at all, Family Force 5.  I would describe them as a mixture between Mindless Self Indulgence and Orgy.  So I've been listening to some Family Force 5 today and it's great.  I can't wait to see what else she introduces me to and I wonder what I can introduce to her that's equally awesome.

Hot!

We made plans to go see A Nightmare on Elm Street tonight.  Neither of us have seen it.  And both of us have heard negative things about it.  But we are also both big fans of the series so even if the movie does indeed suck, we will be in good company.

At the zombie walk.  Which I've been wanting to go to.

I look forward to seeing where this goes with her.  It definitely has promise.  More so than anyone I've dated lately.

Graham Slam

by Chris

I got back in town yesterday from my Brother Matt's graduation from Columbus State University.  I'm very proud of him graduating college.  I just hope he gets a job he wants now.  It's going to be hard especially so since he is going into teaching.  But I'm sure everything will work out nicely for him in the end.  So Congratulations Matt!  Or is it Mat now?  I don't know.

I stayed down there another day after his graduation.  The whole family was there.  Mom, Dad, Mat, Jonathan, Dooter, and I went to the National Infantry Museum.  It was actually really cool.  It didn't really make me want to join the Army very much more but there is definitely still an interest there for me.  I'll be making that decision in late July based on conditions at work.  Right now I feel as if all this hard effort I put in for my job is going unrewarded.  I honestly can't remember the last time I've gotten a pay raise.  I'm not complaining that I have a job, I'm very thankful for that, but I can't help but feel I'm being taken advantage of.  Anyway, while at the museum we also watched Hubble 3d at the IMAX theater there.  That is an impressive theater.  First real IMAX that I've been to.  I just hate the 3d part of movies.  I can't wait until this fad dies out.

Jonathan, Mom, Me - and Zoe's Mom, Annie

After that the family left to go back home.  I stayed another night wanting to go play disc golf with Mat and his roommates but got called into work instead.  But that night, I went to see Iron Man 2 again with Mat and his friends.  It's better the first time you see it.  I just watched The Totally Rad Show's review of Iron Man 2 and it was spot on.  If you don't watch The Totally Rad Show then I demand you check out an episode.  It's great!  But only if you are a geek like me.

Love playing this game!

I plan to go try out some disc golf courses around my apartment this weekend.  I'd love some company to tag along if anyone nearby is interested.  I probably have enough discs for 2 other people to play, maybe 3.  Regardless, it'll be me and Zoe testing out the courses.  Once I find one nearby that I really like I'm gonna practice everyday until I actually get good.  Those scores in the 80's are gonna be history!

Nice picture of my bulging muscles!  And a disc going way out of bounds :(

I ordered a new digital camera and it was supposed to be delivered today.  It would have been if I were home.  UPS is going to try again tomorrow, so I hope I manage to catch them this time.  If not I'll be here Saturday to sign for it.  I can't wait to finally have my own camera again.  Not this crappy cell phone and web cam crappy quality pictures.

Here is today's Video of the Day (VOTD):

I definitely have a HUGE crush on this chick.

Happy Iron Disc Mother's Day

by Chris

Oh man what a weekend.  I am exhausted.  I passed out in my delicious bed last night at 8.  Zoe passed out right after I gave her a bath last night.  She was one tired little pup!  Okay, let's see if I can recap the weekend.

Friday was pretty horrible.  I was feeling as lonely as I possibly could.  I truly believe that I will spend the rest of my life alone unless I decide to just settle.  I doubt I will ever find someone I want to find.  But nothing of note happened on Friday.

Saturday I started the day out by going to see Iron Man 2 with Reese.  He is a co-worker's son, and while I was staying with their family after my divorce we became good buddies.  We both enjoyed the movie immensely!  I'm definitely not in the mood to review right now but maybe later?  Oh I forgot to say that I brought Zoe over to their house first to get her used to the dogs there.  Because on Monday (today) I will be leaving work early to go to my brother Matt's graduation down in Columbus.  I think she got comfortable with them, but I really can't remember.  After we got back from the movies I had a call from my Mom wanting me to come down to play disc golf with her and her boyfriend, Guy.  I was going to go down there on Sunday anyway plus I've been wanting to play disc golf for a year now.  So that was an easy decision to make.

 Me, Mom, Guy

Needless to say, I had a great time!  Guy is amazing at the sport.  Well he did play the game professionally.  I'm learning a lot about it from him which is great.  I think a round of disc golf would also make for a great first date.  (If I can manage to get one!)  I finished with a score of 81.  Guy finished with 60 and my mom finished with 98.  I guess that's not too bad for my first game.  After disc golf we came home and had some great grilled cheeseburgers.  Then I passed out on the couch.

The longest hole on the course. 503ft I believe.

Sunday was Mother's Day.  Started the day off with a giant breakfast.  Then My Mom, Guy, my brother Jonathan, and I set off to play another round of disc golf.  This was my brother's first time ever playing.  I don't have any pictures from that day just yet but I will get them as soon as I can.  Also all of these pictures are on my Facebook.  There is a link at the bottom of the page I believe.

It was a beautiful day as you can see.
We had yet another great day at the course.  I ended up with an 82 this time around.  I really messed up some drives.  But I felt as if I were getting better.  I'm getting my technique down.  I need to go to a field somewhere and practice my throws.

18th hole.  Guy could Ace it.
We also brought the doggies with us on Sunday.  I brought Zoe and my mom brought Zoe's Momma and Aunt with her.  They were in doggy heaven!  Just running, playing, splashing, sloshing all up and down the course.  Zoe was one dirty pup but I got her cleaned up once I got home.  I hope there are some good pictures of them.  Guy hasn't put the pictures up yet so I don't know whats on the camera.

Now it's Monday.  I'm tired and a little sore.  I'll be leaving work early today to make my way down to Columbus for my brother Matt's graduation later today.  Then I have tomorrow off of work and I believe my Mom has some things planned for us to do down in Columbus.  So that's most likely what my next post will be about.

So until then, be well and thrive!  :-p
